Where'er You May Be

Kind words.

Today as I was leaving church, one of the folks in the nursery that was watching the Little Linebacker along with an egg carton full more of two year olds, said to me, "Your kids are so good."

The man tends to speak in a gentle sarcasm, so I asked, "How many kids did the Little Linebacker go after today?"

"No, no.  Really he did great.  Your kids are really good."

I eyeballed him suspiciously for a second.  And then I let myself do it.  I let myself enjoy his compliment.  I pushed aside all my nagging mothering inadequacies and I said, just a little guardedly, "Thank you."

And there it was.  The check mark next to "go to church today" wasn't droopy.  It sparkled.

Kind words.

Speak 'em oft.

Where'er you may doggone be.
