Tonight I drove Iron Man, Cinderella, a Baby Bumble Bee, and a grumpy two-year old in green sweats to and from our church trunk-or-treat. While we were there we ate some chili, and a few corn-bread muffins. Then we met up with a friend or two and walked to ten or fifteen car trunks, shyly said "trick-or-treat," said "thank-you" into our chins, and then piled into our own car and started trying to figure out how to unwrap candy. And that was about it. It seemed pretty simple to me.
On the way home Iron Man enthusiastically and sincerely said, "This was the best night ever. I love Halloween. Do you know what the only thing I love more than Halloween is? Christmas."
Childhood's simplicity is beautiful and enviable. It might even be better than Christmas.

Haha, my kids say their thank-yous into their chins too. And I love how getting a few pieces of candy can make it the best night ever. Reminds us to take joy in the little things.
