My garden. Oh my garden. It has turned into a jumble of weeds. Finding my carrots and tomatoes and watermelons and catelope is kind of like a game of hide and seek. Every afternoon that I wander out there I have to guess what tall green thing is hiding the little red tomatos I'm hunting for. I also have to cross my fingers that I don't get the booby prize and find a snake underneath the weeds I'm going to have to put my, inevitably, bare feet in to get the hiding tomatoes. It all makes for a thrilling and chilling experience. So far I've come out the winner. There have been lots of frogs, tons of tomatoes, and no snakes.
Does anyone have any suggestions for decreasing the amount of weeds I have in my garden next year? I of course realize that I could put in some more work with my fingers and a hoe to keep the weeds back - but is there anything I can do otherwise to kill off what has been growing in my backyard for millenia?
Now I'm off to get a crying baby. I am pretty sure that having babies directly correlates to how many weeds there are in a garden.

Dad always put his grass clippings as a mulch in the garden, that helps keep the weeds down. Also for things you put in as little plants (not seeds) you can put the fabric barrier and cut holes to put the plants in.
