Cooooooookies!!

Alright. Today I'm going to try as hard as I can not to talk about The Help. Goodness knows I'm still in a knot about it all and today's four mile read just made the knot tanglier (I declare this a word). A good book gets you in bunches I guess. I'd rather be all bothered by a book than read something that makes me feel like I spent 15 hours eating cotton candy though. That just makes a girl chubby and hungry.

Speaking of chubby and hungry, I made the best-ever-of-all-time chocolate chip cookies yesterday. The intention was to take them as thank yous to some folks who did me some kindnesses three months ago. I find myself saying "better late than never" a lot. Anyhow, I burned the last nine cookies. I do that. It's kind of like my signature. So all day today, when my kids' backs have been turned, I've been eating burned, but oh-so-delicious chocolate chip cookies. I've felt pretty guilty hiding from my kids the way I have, but it's for their own health...they don't need chocolate chip cookies...I mean I'm a nursing mother...I run...I made them...they're burned anyway...I gave them two gummy bears...OK,OK, it's just such a darned good recipe. It could make a selfish mother out of anybody. If you want to test yourself, use the recipe on the back of a bag of Hersey's chocolate chips. Slightly under-cook them. Then eat them straight from the freezer...when your kids aren't looking...so there are more for you. Oh fine, shame me, share them and enjoy dang it.

You learned how to burn the last batch from me. I was a pro at it. I also like the burnt cookies but I think we eat them as a sacrifice so our kids won't have to eat burnt cookies.
